Schools
must meet the national criteria across the four core themes
using the whole school approach In order to achieve National
Healthy School Status.
The self-validation process was introduced to minimise
the bureaucracy on schools wanting to apply for National
Healthy Schools Status.
Schools retain National
Healthy Schools Status for three years after which they are
required to re-validate through a process of self validation.
The Healthy Schools Team will contact schools a year before
their status is due to expire prompting them to self review.
Schools that do not re-validate will lose Healthy Schools Status
and will be removed from the national database.
