Schools must meet the national criteria across the four core themes using the whole school approach In order to achieve National Healthy School Status.

The self-validation process was introduced to minimise the bureaucracy on schools wanting to apply for National Healthy Schools Status.
Quantitative
'95% of pupils say they feel safe in school and know how to deal with conflict'

'100% of pupils thought exercise was good for them'

'100% of KS1 children and 92% of KS2 children think their school is a safe place.'

'87% of KS3 and 90% of KS4 pupils say they are taught about drugs.'

'Over 85% of children stated they are taught about fire safety, bullying and road safety and this level of knowledge has been maintained over 4 years.'

Qualitative
'All teachers will be trained in using SEAL after January 2008'

'Playtime buddies support the younger pupils'

'Friday assemblies celebrate successes in and out of school'

'A Healthy Smoothie Cookbook has been developed, which is being sold to raise funds for outdoor play equipment'

'Huff and Puff activities introduced for all pupils at lunchtimes'

'Extra curricular activities which include Tae Kwon Do, netball and dance clubs'

'There is a clear behaviour policy in place for EHWB (updated January 2008) which provides a positive environment that enhances well-being in the school'

'Staff have attended Wellbeing training and have implemented it in the school'
