Healthy Schools Status
100% of schools in Northamptonshire are now participating in the scheme.

A list of schools who have achieved and working towards can be found in the ‘participating schools’ section.

This section of the website gives information on how to achieve Healthy Schools Status, with the audit criteria, resources, good practice examples and advisor support.

On-line Pupil Surveys

All schools who are working on status are asked to take part in the pupil surveys to collect baseline data on children and young people’s attitudes towards health and wellbeing within school. This should ideally be done at the beginning of the schools Healthy Schools journey and repeated again once all of the criteria have been met. Participation in the survey also gives a genuine opportunity to ensure that pupils’ views are sought, heard and through negotiation, acted upon.

We ask that a minimum of 40% of each year group completes these, although in a small school you may wish all the pupils to take part in the survey. Once they have been submitted you will need to let your Healthy Schools Advisor know by phone or e-mail so that the information can be retrieved from the host website and the results collated. The host has no access to the data. All schools are given a pupil survey code by their Advisor, which has to be entered by each pupil completing the survey.

On-line pupil surveys are available for all four key stages and can be completed in approximately 20 minutes or so. Key Stage 1 pupils may need to ‘buddy up’ with an older pupil to help complete the surveys. Once the surveys are completed, the Healthy Schools team sends the school a RAG-rated report of the findings, which can be used for action planning and to help with setting meaningful outcomes.
